Schwarzwald Giro 2014
Celebrating the passion of riding on the most scenic roads in the Black Forest
Over the past weekend the third annual „Schwarzwald Giro“ took place in the Black Forest of Germany. About 50 people gathered to enjoy a day in the saddle, surrounded by good people in some of the most beautiful countryside Germany has to offer. Hidden roads with great views, tough climbs and great weather made this Sunday very special to most if not all the participating riders.
This event is certainly not a race and this is what makes it so special. The „no one‘s left behind“ ethics of the group worked great again this year and so the fast guys (of which there are quite a few) waited on top of the climbs patiently for the rest of the peloton. In fact even the newly introduced rule stating that the fastest guy would have to turn around, descent and support the slower folks was followed without complaining. So what is the „Schwarzwald Giro“ about you might wonder. It is not about winning (there is no winner) or KOMs (many new KOMs were awarded that day nonetheless), it is about being outside on your bike with people of different backrounds and from different countries, but who all share the same passion for the sport of cycling.
And what better way to celebrate this passion than riding your bike over some of the most scenic roads the Black Forest hast to offer with some of the best friends you could ask for?
This year, for the first time, we were lucky to team up with Isadore who helped us design a commemorative „Schwarzwald Giro“ jersey. People loved the jersey and it will certainly be a great addition to everybodys wardrobe. Thanks to Martin and to the entire Isadore crew for making this happen. I really hope to continue this collaboration in the future.
If you want to find out more about the event, head over to „The Radavist“ where my friend Kevin, who travelled all the way from Milwaukee to Germany for the Schwarzwald Giro, published his amazing photos and a great review of what happened that day.

And even though the 2014 Schwarzwald Giro now is history, many of us are already thinking about next June, when most of us will meet again for another great weekend on the bike.
